Benson James Boone is an American singer-songwriter who was born on June 25, 2002. He started his musical career by filling in for a friend at a talent show. He was born and raised in Monroe, Washington. Later, Boone made an appearance on American Idol, where he competed for a short time before willingly leaving. He signed a deal with Night Street Records, the record label owned by Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds, after continuing to grow in popularity on TikTok.

Released in October 2021, Boone’s first single, “Ghost Town,” peaked at number one in 16 countries. A number of successful singles have since been released by Boone, such as “In the Stars” (April 2022) and “Beautiful Things” (January 2024), the latter of which peaked at the top of the charts in the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand.[4] It also peaked at number two on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, making it his first song to make it into the top five.[5] Fireworks & Rollerblades, his first studio album, was made available on April 5, 2024.

Benson Boone, a pop singer and songwriter with a strong, soulful voice, cites Queen, Adele, Jon Bellion, and Billy Joel as musical influences. Following his decision to cut his own path during the televised American Idol audition stage in 2021, he made his Billboard Hot 100 debut that same year with his first single, “Ghost Town.” “In the Stars” from his first EP, Walk Me Home, from 2022, did even better in the United States and made it to the international charts. With the fiery power ballad “Beautiful Things” from his 2024 full-length debut, the worldwide hit Fireworks & Rollerblades, he reached number one on multiple international charts and peaked at number two on the Hot 100.

Boone, a Washington State native, didn’t realize he was a musician until he was asked to play in a band at a high school talent show. Only a year later, he tried out for the 19th season of American Idol, but he made the tough choice to leave despite the judges’ televised acclaim because he wanted to be recognized for his own music. Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons became his mentor along the way and signed Boone to his label, Night Street Records (Warner Records). In the meantime, Boone had enrolled at Brigham Young University-Idaho and amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

His first single, “Ghost Town,” a moving breakup ballad inspired by a friend’s relationship, was released in October 2021. It performed better in Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and European nations like Norway, where it peaked at number one, and it broke into the Hot 100 at number 100. The song was featured on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in February 2022, the same month that he made his debut with “Room for Two.” In the first half of 2022, a series of singles were released, the most successful of which, “In the Stars,” peaked at number 82 in the United States and did even better abroad. In July of that year, it was featured on Boone’s first EP, Walk Me Home. Additional singles followed, including “Before You” from 2022, which charted in Norway, and “Sugar Sweet,” which was featured on the Pulse EP in 2023.

Boone rose to the top of the global charts at the beginning of 2024 after releasing the hit song “Beautiful Things.” It peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and reached number one in the UK, Canada, Australia, Norway, and France, among other countries. That April, Fireworks & Rollerblades, its companion full-length, made its debut on Night Street. With the help of numerous producers, including JT Daly, Imad Royal, and Captain Cuts, the album peaked at number six in the United States and Canada and number one in Norway, among other countries. Boone was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist as a result of its success.
